eBay Login - Guide on How to Sign in eBay Account

How to Get to the eBay login page

Getting to the eBay login page is very simple. Go to www.eBay.com and in the top left corner of the home page you will see a sign in link as shown in the image below.

Signing in helps keep your account secure. Once you click on sign in, you will be taken to the login page. The login page has 2 functions. You can either enter your eBay login or you can register for a new account.

Signing in to your eBay account

After you register with eBay, you can sign in with either your user ID or the email address associated with your account, and your password.

When signing in, you can choose to have your computer remember your sign in information for one day so that you don’t have to re-enter your user ID or email address and password. Your password will be saved until you sign out, even if you disconnect from the Internet, close your browser or turn off your computer.

Note: For security purposes, your password is automatically encrypted when you sign in, using Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer (EV SSL) technology. If you have upgraded to a browser with the latest anti-phishing capabilities, look for a green Web address bar for verification that you are on a secure page before entering sensitive information.

About Microsoft Passport
eBay does not support Microsoft Passport authentication for sign in. If you’re a Passport user, you must still sign in with your eBay user ID or email address and password.



How to sign in to eBay

After you register with eBay, you can sign in with either your username or the email address associated with your account, and your password.

The steps for eBay Login are quite easy:

1. Go to the sign-in page.
2. Important: Make sure that the web address of the sign-in page starts with https://signin.ebay.com.
3. Enter your username or email address, and password in the fields provided.
4. Enter your password or click Sign in with a single use code.
5. If you're on a public or shared computer it is recommend that you clear the Stay signed in check box.
6. Click Sign in.

You can then buy and sell items on eBay.

Enter Your eBay login

To enter your eBay login first click on the field that says enter your user id or email. The steps are highlighted in yellow in the image below. Next go to the password field and enter your password. The final step will be to click the sign in button.

Optional, if you are not on a public computer you can have eBay remember your login information and keep you signed in. Do not use this from a public location or an unsecured network.

When you'll need to Login

To protect your identity and privacy, you'd be asked to sign in periodically. For example, you can be asked to sign in when you:

1. Request a change to your user information such as email address, username, payment methods, or credit card information.  
2. Have a buyer account and want to add a seller account.  
3. Start listing an item using a different browser session, even if you've selected the Stay signed in option. However, if you use the same browser session to sign in and to list an item, you won't be asked to sign in again unless you've closed your browser at any time after you signed in.  
4. Clear cookies from your browser, or if your cookies become corrupted.  
5. Post to the Community Discussion Boards, Answer Center or eBay Groups.

As an extra security check, you may occasionally be asked to enter a verification code when you sign in.

If you forget your username or password

If you forget your username, you can sign in with your registered email address, or you'll be sent an email with your username.

If you forget your password, you can click Sign in with a single use code or reset your password. Your old password will remain active until you create a new one.

Sign Up For An eBay Account

You can't proceed with eBay Login if you haven't registered. The registration process takes about 30 seconds and requires a valid email address. From the login screen to the right you will see a button that says register. If you click this it will bring you to the eBay registration page.
Enter your first name and then your last name. Next you will want to enter your email address you want associated with your account. Make sure it is a valid email address you have access to so you can confirm your registration. If you do not have an email address you can create a Hotmail sign in or Gmail login for free. After you have entered your email the next step will be to choose a password. This will have to be entered twice to ensure you have made no mistakes. Choose a password that is not easy to guess but one you will remember.


The final step in creating your eBay login is clicking the submit button if you agree to eBay’s user agreement and privacy policy. You will then be ready to bid or sell!
